Things to do in and around Plett.
Hey there, fellow travelers!
If you’re planning a trip to Plettenberg Bay on the Garden Route, let me share some insider tips based on my recent getaway with my wife for our 15th wedding anniversary.
We decided to escape the hustle and bustle by leaving our kids with friends and embarking on a romantic day and night in and around Plettenberg Bay, affectionately known as Plett. Our first stop was the charming Old Rectory, a historic 4-star gem in a prime location. The highlight? A blissful 120-minute massage at the hotel’s spa whisked us away into pure relaxation mode, leaving all worries behind.
For lunch, we headed to Newstead Lund Family Vineyards in the Crags, just a short drive from Plett. This was my second visit, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. We savored their renowned Cap Classique alongside mouthwatering dishes like the Greek platter and Roasted Chilli Garlic Chicken. The bustling restaurant exuded warmth and came with excellent service as always, making it a must-visit spot in the area.
A quick detour back to the hotel led us to The Bungalow bar near Hobie Beach, offering one of the most picturesque views of Plett Bay. Sipping on delightful cocktails like Pina Coladas and Mojitos while gazing at the sea just meters away was pure bliss. Keep your eyes peeled – you might catch a glimpse of dolphins or even a passing whale if luck is on your side!
As the day wound down, we enjoyed a delectable dinner at the hotel, indulging in fantastic food and top-notch service. My wife opted for two starters while I relished an A-typical bunny chow that hit all the right spots. A customary Don Pedro at the bar capped off our evening before we retired for the night, cherishing the quality time spent in one of South Africa’s most beautiful regions.
Plettenberg Bay is truly a must-visit destination for every traveler’s bucket list. From serene spas to vineyard delights and seaside cocktails with a view, this coastal paradise offers an unforgettable experience for all who venture here.
